Hi, my name is Katie. Welcome.

My name is Katie. I´ve lived in many places including Perú and México. My life is my prayer. I am so grateful for this wild and beautiful ride of existence and so grateful and excited to offer my herbal remedies to the world.

Katie Williamson of Golden Goat Herbals

My name is Katie Williamson. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in the suburbs of the city. My family is epic and amazing. However, my sisters and I definitely did not grow up learning about basic human skills, like cooking, fermenting, growing food, building things.

That´s what I´m doing as an adult; learning, REMEMBERING that which my mind, heart and soul at a deep level already know. Learning human stuff. :)

I´ve done so many things in my life. I danced at the Royal Ballet School in London, apprenticed in accounting at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Washington D.C., worked at an orphanage in Lima, Perú, started a travel company in the Sacred Valley of Perú, and most recently lived in rural México.

I also apprenticed with wise woman extraordinaire, Susun Weed, at her homestead in 2020. It was an epic, challenging and joyful experience that I will treasure for my whole life and existence.

I am now back in the USA with dreams to homestead in the Tennessee foothills. I´ll make raw milk goat cheese, herbal meads and sodas from my bee hives and tend to luscious herbal gardens from which my food and medicine will come.

That´s the dreams and it´s going to happen. I hope you can come visit some day; we can learn and remember together.

In the meantime, I grow some herbs at my current home and wildcraft others. My herbal remedies sold through Golden Goat Herbals are made with love and care by my own two hands.

You can also check me out on Youtube as Yo Soy Pachamamista; I teach about herbalism and fermentation in Spanish with more English content on the way!

Thank you for being here.

In love and gratitude

Katie (Katita) Williamson

The Way It Is by William Stafford

There’s a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.
You don’t ever let go of the thread.

What´s the story behind the name, Golden Goat Herbals?

As a Susun Weed apprentice you (with your apprentice sisters if you have any) get to choose a clan name. I was the only apprentice during my time at Susun´s house so I had the task of choosing a clan name for myself. I knew I wanted it to be something with goats; for a while I just couldn´t think (or feel) of a proper name.

Then one day I was herding goats (actually not Susun´s goats but her neighbor´s goats). I was standing with them in a field of early fall goldenrod. It was beautiful and epic and inspiring. And I said “ah-ha!! THAT´S my clan name. The Golden Goat Clan.

I always knew that when I started sharing my own remedies with the world that I wanted to share them with this same name and hence the birth of Golden Goat Herbals.
